Renowned Egyptian Ibtihal Reciter Zia al-Nazir Dies

IQNA – Sheikh Zia al-Nazir, a famous Ibtihal reciter in Egypt, passed away on Saturday, December 9.

He was an official Ibtihal reciter of Egypt’s Quran Radio, according to Al-Misri Al-Yawm daily.

Ibtihal, which means prayer and supplication in Arabic, is a special style of recitation of supplications.

It is popular in many Arab countries, especially Egypt, with many qaris of Quran also known for their Ibtihal recitations.  

The funeral for Zia al-Nazir is planned to be held after Asr (afternoon) prayers today in his home village of Tanan in Al-Qalyubia Governorate.

A number of top qaris, including Sheikh Fathullah Bibris and Sheikh Ahmed al-Fashni, have expressed condolences for the death of the senior Ibtihal reciter, praying for divine mercy for his soul.
